Four checks

Avoid the wrong conclusion

  1. 01

    Nominal or volume?

A lower value can reflect a lower price, less volume or both.

  2. 02

    Dutch-made or re-export?

The economic meaning differs when goods were produced in the Netherlands or passed through it.

  3. 03

    One-off transaction?

Ships and specialised machinery can move monthly figures sharply.

  4. 04

    Verify the measure separately

Connect trade data to a legal measure only after checking its scope and exact effective date.
